About Me

My introduction to design, although I didn't realize it at the time, was when I immigrated to the U.S. The very concept of street signs and automatic doors was foreign to me when I arrived in Los Angeles. I mistook my interest in design for an interest in science and engineering.

But eventually my friend John (a fellow designer) gave me a copy of Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. Of course, that set me straight. Designers often argue about what design is, and these debates always end with an unsatisfactory answer we all begrudgingly agree to. To me, design is just taking care of each other. I suppose those automatic doors at Albertsons always made me feel taken care of.

If I'm not designing or doting on my dog, Ziggy, I'm often making music. Since 2018, I've learned to compose, perform, write, and produce my own songs. None of my music is published yet, but I love engaging with other musicians.

Have you ever noticed music follows human speech patterns? It swells and softens in the same ways you and I do. Often times, you start and finish talking on the same note, just like a melody.
